This is my husband and I. I am sure if you saw us on the street you would assume we were a cishet couple.
News flash: we aren’t.
I am a bisexual who has been in relationships with only women. He is a Transguy who has been on T for over a decade. We have been together for 18 years. We both identify as queer. We are out. We are active in the LGBTQ+ community.
But all of you calling that couple above straight, you just keep judging people on a photo alone and pretending you know who they are and what their stories are.
Us queers in relationships you judge will keep being happy and healthy and living our best life while you choke on your bullshit.

We are both bisexual. I’ve been in a relationship with someone who identified as female at the time (they have since come out as nonbinary), but even if I had not, that doesn’t discount my own sexuality.
We are both cisgender, but we are still both bisexual. I am very active within the LGBT+ community. He is not, due to people like OP.

Three medical students at the University of Pennsylvania are getting ready launch their LGBTQ-focused health care app, SpectrumScores, by the end of August.
The app will connect lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer patients with doctors who have been recognized as LGBTQ-friendly by advocacy organizations, academic medical centers and, eventually, the app users themselves.

This is your friendly reminder that LGBTQ+ headcanons do not hurt anyone.
There is literally no harm in queer fans headcanoning characters as being lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, non-binary, gender fluid, demisexual, pansexual, asexual, or any other queer identity, especially when these headcanons make then happy and improve their fandom experience. It’s a way to create positive representation for themselves through their engagement with their favorite fandom characters, and that’s a beautiful thing that shouldn’t be questioned or criticized.
I think my favorite panic-fueled response to a petitioner was when someone came up to me in Union Square and said “Hi, would you care to sign our petition for LGBT rights?” and I just blurted out “I’m already gay” and the person, taken aback, said “Well, that’s… nice.” and I said “It really is. Goodbye.” and just walked into the closest store to escape.
one time I was on my way to a final and this clipboard person was aggressively trying to stand in my way and saying “excuse me sir, can you take just one minute?” and I was like “I’m sorry I’m on my way to a final” and they said “just takes a minute to save a mountain” and I panicked because clearly the truth of why I had to go wasn’t working so I just said the first thing that came to mind which was “Sorry I hate mountains”
This is maybe my favorite response to this post, holy shit.

Queer was added to the acronym after it was reclaimed and re-politicized by ACT UP off-shoot Queer Nation in the early 1990s. LGBTQ has been a thing since the 90s.
ONE Archives, which is the largest repository of LGBTQIA+ materials in the world and was founded by some of the principle members of the early (1950s-60s) homophile movement, which led to the gay rights movement post-Stonewall, uses the full acronym LGBTQ on their website and also freely uses the word “Queer” interchangeably.
As of 2014, NOW (National Organization for Women) agreed to switch to use of the full LGBTQIA acronym, and it likely isn’t the only large social rights organization to have done so

The acronym is constantly evolving. It’s not static. To claim otherwise is blatant ignorance. ETA: “Straightness” is a position of power. Ace people, even if they are in heterosexual relationships, do not necessarily perform “straightness” in ways that are acceptable to the Straight class.

I will never not reblog this. It’s so hard to come across this post and this ain’t something ASL class will teach you. Sign language is spectrum of widely used languages (they differ country to country) and you never know when you’re going to need it.

during the jewish holiday of pesach (or passover), there’s a meal called the seder. during the seder, there is an explanation of all of the foods on the seder plate. some people, but not all, put an orange on the plate. this orange is from a story. the story says that, once, a lesbian asked her rabbi if there was a space in Judaism for LGBT people. her rabbi said “there is as much space for LGBT people in Judaism as there is for an orange on the seder plate.” thats why it’s there. and to me, a Jewish lesbian, that story has so much meaning and hope. however, straight women took that story. they turned it into this: a woman asked if she could be a rabbi. she was told “there is as much room for female rabbis as there is for an orange on the seder plate.” now, instead of a lesbian thing, it’s a feminist thing.
“femme” is a lesbian term. straight women have turned it into a term that can apply to anyone.
one can be a feminist and still let lesbians have things!
